The Metropolis of Nea Ionia and Philadelphia celebrated the Synaxis of the miraculous holy icon of Panagia Vimatarissa, which was given by the Vatopedi Monastery of Mount Athos, and is kept in the Metropolitan Chapel of Saint Paraskevi in Nea Ionia. Hundreds of faithful participated in the liturgy.
On the feast day, Sunday, September 8, Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia and Philadelphia presided over the Orthros and then performed the Divine Liturgy with the participation of the clergy of the Holy Metropolis.
In his speech, Gabriel referred to Our Most Holy Lady the Theotokos as well as to the history of the miraculous holy icon.
