The memory of the patron saint St. Athanasius the Athonite was celebrated at the Theological School of the Orthodox University of Congo.
Students and graduates of the Theological School sang both the Vespers in the evening before the feast and the Divine Liturgy at the Matins on the day of the feast.
A procession around the holy temple and the Artoklasia service followed. Then, everyone went to the School’s hall where the students presented a festive program in honour of St. Athanasius the Athonite.
They also spoke with gratitude to the founder of the Orthodox University of Congo, Metropolitan Ignatius of Pentapolis. They thanked the Metropolitan of Kinshasa, the professors and the donors who contributed to the proper functioning of the School.
Then, the floor was taken by Vice-Rector Theodoros Foumouzanza and the Rector of the Orthodox University, Metropolitan Nikiforos of Kinshasa, who closed the event emphasizing the help and protection of St. Athanasius the Athonite, and the contribution of the Holy Monastery of Great Lavra on Mount Athos to the reconstruction of the majestic church.
