“Turkey is the most important item in the agenda today,” said Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, upon his arrival at the Foreign Affairs Council. “You know that our relationship with Turkey is not especially good at the moment and I think it is going to be an interesting discussion on how to address this important issue,” said Borrell, as reported by ANA-MPA.
The EU Foreign Affairs Council is attended by Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, who, in an interview on SKAI TV, said that he would raise the issue of Hagia Sophia.
The foreign minister said that Greece urged the EU to have a list of strong measures against Turkey if the latter violated sovereignty or sovereignty rights of Greece and how it would support Cyprus in imposing sanctions related to Cypriot rights.
