On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan used provocative language and attacked directly on Kyriakos Mitsotakis, during his speech in front of the members of his party.
As reported by protothema.gr, referring to the Greek Prime Minister, the Turkish President said: “I made a statement that we can meet with Mitsotakis. If you are looking for peace, then don’t provoke me. We said that the exploratory contacts should start, and they started last week in Constantinople and now Mitsotakis is provocative again. You sit at the table and then get up and leave. Know your limits. If you do not know your limits, it means that you kicked the table, escaped from the table”.
“It’s obvious what you do on the islands. You are not going to benefit from those you trust. Whatever help comes you should know that Turkey is standing and can do the right thing. You will learn well about the madness of the Turks,” said the Turkish president, apparently referring to the Turkish government’s request for the demilitarization of 16 Greek islands.
Regarding the Cyprus issue, he said: “The purpose of the Greek Cypriots is to dominate the island. Annan himself had told me that ‘I dealt with the matter four times, I failed in all of them’. Turkey is a guarantor force for the Turkish Cypriots and will not do anything negative for them. There is no other solution for Cyprus than the solution of the two states. We are not talking about a federation, there is no such thing on the table, whether you want it or not.”
