Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan presented the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque as his greatest work.
As reported by SKAI, in his final speech, the Turkish president said that his move showed the world the political and economic independence of his country.
“We put the signature to open Hagia Sophia as a mosque. After 86 years of nostalgia, Hagia Sophia returned to its true image and always according to the will of Muhammad the Conqueror.
I see this as an action that broke the shackles of our people and shattered them.
Hagia Sophia is a legacy of the Fall of Constantinople. We brought it back with the prayers of Muhammad and the sounds of the imams.
In this way, Turkey has ratified its economic and political independence on a global level.
I thank God that He has made us worthy to reopen Hagia Sophia as a holy book.”
