With each passing day, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan argues in favor of his decision to change the Hagia Sophia’s status and covert it into a mosque.
In his speech on the two years in power, the Turkish president, in addition to being a protector of Islam, seems to want to present himself as an interlocutor of the Prophet Muhammad, after emphasizing that “the opening of Hagia Sophia as a mosque, according to the order of Mehmed the Conqueror, is the result of the conception of prosperity of the nation and the way in which we will win the heart of our nation.” He also emphasized that his goal was the development of the country and the nation.
