Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon on Thursday visited the Patriarchate of Georgia and had a meeting with the Patriarch Ilia.
Metropolitan Emmanuel conveyed to the Patriarch the fraternal greetings of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, as well as his condolences on the death of Bishop Damianos.
According to the announcement of the Patriarchate of Georgia, Elder Metropolitan of Chalcedon noted that the pandemic has weakened the ties, and emphasized the need for bilateral visits to strengthen friendship and unity, in order to jointly overcome contemporary difficulties and challenges.
At the meeting, both sides expressed their sorrow over the tragic events in Ukraine and spoke of the need to take appropriate measures to end the war and promote peace.
