With his paternal greetings, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria and All Africa welcomed today the 17 students of the Tositseio School, as well as the 29 students of the Averofio High School, the two purely Greek schools operated by the Greek-speaking Greek community of Alexandria, in the historic area of Al Azaritah WA Ash Shatebi, in the centre of the seaside town.
“I wish you a happy school year,” said the Alexandrian Primate, supported by Metropolitan Meletios of Katanga and the administrative director of the Greek Schools of Alexandria, Spyridon Kladakis, in the presence of the Consul General of Greece in Alexandria, Athanasios Kotsionis, and the Financial Supervisor of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria, f. Paris Pefanis Makris.
The headmaster of the Tositseio Elementary School, Angeliki Tsiadimi, referred to the school’s role “which is multifaceted and complex, because, in addition to transmitting knowledge and cultivating the intellect and skills of young people, it must aim at providing them with all-round moral and spiritual growth, and more meaningful education.
Today’s school must educate responsible, conscious, critical-thinking, cultured, socially sensitive citizens with ideals, principles and values. Citizens who love their country and care about it.”
The Alexandrian Primate, Theodore, reserved a surprise for the students of the Greek Schools and promised to offer an excursion for both schools as a minimum contribution of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.
