Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended the Divine Liturgy of the Saturday of Souls, today, March 9, 2024. At the conclusion, he conducted the customary Trisagion service, during which he offered prayers of forgiveness and remembered the names of departed brethren, invoking repose for the souls commemorated with the kollyva offerings.
On the occasion of the feast of the Holy Forty Martyrs, the Ecumenical Patriarch, accompanied by Metropolitan Elder Emmanuel of Chalcedon, went to the Cemetery of Saint Ignatius of Chalcedon and offered a Trisagion service before the tomb of his spiritual father, Metropolitan Elder Meliton of Chalcedon.
