Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended prayerfully the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy of the Fourth Sunday of Lent, April 11, 2021.
Metropolitan Meliton of Philadelphia presided over the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by Metropolitans Andreas of Saranda Ekklisies and Ioakeim of Bursa.
According to the relevant synodical decision, the memorial service was offered for the hierarchs of the Ecumenical Throne who reposed in the Lord three years ago such as Iakovos of Princes’ Islands, Evangelos of Perga, Iakovos of Catania, Germanos of Theodoroupolis, Pavlos of Sisanion and Siatista, Stylianos of Australia, Michael of Claudiopoulis, Panteleimon of Tyroloi and Serention, Ierotheos of Limnos and Agios Efstratios, former Grigorios of Thyateira and Great Britain, Christophoros of Andida, Gennadios of Italy and Malta, former Maximos of Pittsburg, Seraphim of Kastoria, Emmanouil of Polyana and Kilkis and Konstantinos of Nicaea.
Elder Metropolitan Emmanouil of Chalcedon, Elder Metropolitan Dimitrios of Princes’ Islands, Metropolitans Eirinaios of Myriofyton and Prestasis, Chrysostomos of Myra, Gennadios of Sasisma, Stephanos of Kallioupolis and Madytos, Maximos of Sylivria, and Bishop Andrianos of Halicarnassus, clergymen and a few faithful from Constantinople attended the service due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Afterwards, a memorial reception was held in the Audition Hall of the Eugenides Palace, during which the Ecumenical Patriarch spoke about the personality and contribution to the Church of the late hierarchs, who served in the Phanar and the diocese of the Ecumenical Throne.
