On 6th May 2019, a traditional Easter reception was given at St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York City on behalf of Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA, and Mr. Sergey Ovsyannikov, Russia’s Consul General in New York.
Among those who attended the reception were Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia; Mr. Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations; hierarchs and clergy of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA, the ROCOR, the Orthodox Churches of Antioch and Serbia, the Orthodox Church in America; as well as diplomats and representatives of non-governmental and art institutions of New York.
The hierarchs and Mr. Sergey Ovsyannikov delivered speeches of greetings. Mr. Yury Sandulov, president of The Northern Cross Foundation for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage of the Russian America, presented a project of installing a memorial sign in honor of the recipients of the Order of St. George buried at the cemetery of the Novo-Diveevo Convent.
