After many years, Metropolitan Imbros and Tenedos Cyril officiated the Divine Liturgy on the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary at the chapel of Panagia on Mount Arasia on Tuesday morning.
The Metropolitan was accompanied by Fathers Nikiforos and Prokopios, and several pilgrims from the island.
Arasia is the “Mount Sinai of Imbros,” as Metropolitan Kyrillos said, who shared his emotions after visiting the church by posting photos and videos on Facebook.
“Panagia Arasiani is our small church of our Burning Bush,” he added while reminding that for centuries our ancestors have been climbing the mountain with thorns, stones, and bushes in their way only to praise Her.” “Today we climbed the mountain and officiated the Divine Liturgy in the chapel. O most gracious Virgin Mary. My God deems us worthy to celebrate again next year,” he concluded.
