The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus met, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Chrysostomos, deciding, among other things, to send to the Patriarch of Antioch, the amount that has been raised after a fundraiser in the temples of Cyprus, in order to relieve the affected Lebanese people.
Also, the Holy Synod unanimously elected, on the proposal of the Metropolitan of Paphos, the abbot of the Holy Monastery of Panagia Chrysorrogiatissa, Archimandrite Pagkratios as the Bishop of Arsinoe.
The Holy Synod dealt with issues of the Theological School of the Church of Cyprus and the Theological School “Apostle Barnabas” in view of the beginning of the new school year.
Furthermore, the Holy Synod appointed, by lot, the members of the Five-Member Synodal Court for the new year, which are the Metropolitans of Paphos, Kition, Limassol, Tamassos and the Bishop of Amathus. Deputies are the Metropolitans of Morphou, Constantia, Kykkos, Tremithus and the Bishop of Karpasia.
The Holy Synod also determined that the elections for the new Ecclesiastical Committees will be held in accordance with the Charter of the Church, on Sunday, January 24, 2021.
