On October 18-19, the Special Synodical Committee for Cultural Identity will hold the annual international scientific conference on the Greek War of Independence of 1821, in the context of the decision of the Standing Holy Synod, taken on March 7.
The subject of the Conference is “The pre-eminent leaders of the Greek Revolution – Unanimity and discord during the revolution”.
The purpose of this conference to be held by the Committee of Cultural Identity of the Church of Greece is to highlight the pre-eminent leaders of the Greek Revolution, men and women, to approach the unanimity-discord dipole as factor for the events of the Revolution and the “trauma” in the political life of the first Greek State. The conference will also approach the role of the Church (clergy and lay people) that it was of vital importance, as recent discussions have already shown, throughout the period before, during and after the Revolution.
