The Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete expressed its heartfelt wishes to the newly elected Archbishop of Australia, Bishop Makarios of Christoupolis, for a long and successful pastorate.
In a statement, the Synod of the Church of Crete also pointed out that the late Archbishop Stylianos also came from Crete, who “brought many benefits to the Archdiocese of Australia.”
It also noted that the Church of Crete is happy for the election of a cleric from Crete, Makarios, “who deserved this election, and served with dignity the Church of Crete by holding major positions of responsibility.”
It estimated that Makarios would bring to the Archdiocese his skills from the new major position assigned by the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The Church of Crete wished the new Archbishop of Australia, Makarios, to be healthy and strong, and gave further assurance that he would carry out a brilliant work for the Archdiocese in Australia, “in order to glorify God, and to praise the Mother Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate.”
