The life-giving Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be celebrated tonight, at midnight, on Tuesday, May 26, the day of the Apodosis of Pascha, in the Churches of Greece.
Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens will be present at 21.00 in the Athens Cathedral for the Holy Vigil on the occasion of the Apodosis of Pascha.
This decision was taken by the Standing Holy Synod, as due to the coronavirus the Holy Week services were performed behind closed doors and the faithful watched them on television or online.
On the night of May 26-27, the last day that “Christ is Risen” is sung, before the Holy Ascension of Christ (Thursday), the festal resurrection Pannychida, which is normally held at midnight on Holy Saturday, will take place in the temples and, if conditions allow it until then, the faithful will be able to come to the churches to hear the Hymns of Great and Holy Pascha.
“The Easter service will be sung on May 26, so that we can all attend the service,” the Hierarchs had suggested before Holy Week.
The churches will welcome the faithful, observing all the foreseen measures and instructions of the State, as they were formed in the relevant JMD.
