The program of free hospitality for children and young people from other Christian Orthodox countries, which is being implemented for another year by the Holy Metropolis of Ketros, Katerini and Platamon, started a few days ago.
This year, the program will host children from Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Serbia and Russia.
Most children come from indigent families or live without their parents, and experience difficult conditions in their countries every day, such as neglect, abuse and abandonment.
Through this innovative hospitality program of the Metropolis, children are given the unique opportunity to enjoy in Pieria moments of joy, carefreeness, play but also spiritual experiences that will be a considerable asset in their lives.
More specifically, these days, fifty children from the Church of Poland, accompanied by Bishop Andreas and priests of the Polish Orthodox Church, were hosted at the church hostel in Svoronos.
The hospitality takes place with the blessing of Metropolitan George, who personally organized the guided tour for the children in order to get to know Pieria and its Church.
During their stay, the children and their escorts visited pilgrimages, monasteries and archaeological sites of Pieria, as well as other cultural attractions and destinations of the Prefecture.
