Yesterday, on March 21, 2022, Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis visited Hobart Town Hall and met with the Mayor of Hobart, Councillor Anna Reynolds.
The Bishop was accompanied by Father Nicholas Bozikis and Reverend Father Dimitrios Katsis.
From the outset, Bishop Bartholomew conveyed the love and best wishes of Archbishop Makarios of Australia. Moreover informed the Mayor that the Archbishop will be arriving in Tasmania in June. Bishop Bartholomew invited the Lord Mayor to the various celebratory events.
Moreover, Bishop Bartholomew discussed various projects with the Mayor such as the restoration of the church of Holy Trinity and the two churches in Hobart assisting those in need.
Bishop Bartholomew thanked the Mayor for her time and expressed his desire for the Council and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese to work together for the good of the community.
The Mayor in return thanked Bishop Bartholomew and expressed her anticipation in meeting His Eminence, Archbishop Makarios of Australia, in June, during his planned Pastoral Visit to Tasmania.
Bishop Bartholomew then presented an icon of Christ to the Mayor with the wish that God grants her good health, strength, and patience in her role.
