Bishop Maximos of Melitene celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Stephen in Paris on the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the Fourth Ecumenical Synod, while he presided over the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by Archimandrite Fr. Markelos, the Protopresbyterians Fr. Pierre and Fr. Thierry, and Deacon Anton Gelyasov.
The Bishop referred to the gifts of the shepherds and Jesus’ disciples who were baptized in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, relying on some excerpts of Sermon on the Mount, which was the pericope of the day.
He stressed that “the Fathers of the Church are the light of the world, they are the bright signs and a source of inspiration for all of us. Throughout the ages, shepherds and flock, we are disciples of Jesus, and we ought to follow His word in the Holy Gospel. As the children of the Lord we should be role models for everybody. May our faith in Christ illuminate our path and make us living example of truth and sincerity. The life of the faithful does not leave room for gray zones, evil thoughts and acts of hatred and sin. It has to be an example of righteousness in words and deeds.”
