Tension prevailed on Sunday morning in a village church in Chalkidiki where the priest was officiating the Divine Liturgy in the presence of faithful in spite of existing bans.
Following a complaint, as reported by ant1news.gr, police officers arrived at the church, who found that two believers and the priest were inside the church.
Then they fined each faithful 300 euros on each faithful and the priest 1,500 euros. When the priest’s son realized what had happened, he attacked the police officers by cursing and hitting them.
One of the two believers tried to prevent the arrest of the priest’s son and he was also arrested.
The policemen were slightly injured and were admitted to the General Hospital of Polygyros.
