The 13th Meeting of the representatives of the Church Regions and Monasteries took place on Thursday, the 25th of February 2021, at the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus at the Synodal Office of Pilgrimage Tours of the Church of Cyprus.
Moreover, representatives of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, Metropolises, Dioceses and Monasteries, as well as associates of the Pilgrimage Tour Office attended the meeting. The meeting, which would be held earlier this year but was postponed due to the precautionary measures to tackle COVID-19, was held in accordance with the health protocols in place.
The Head of the Synodal Office of Pilgrimage Tours, Bishop Grigorios of Mesaoria, welcomed the participants and informed them about the actions taken in recent months to promote pilgrimage tours.
Associates of the Synodal Office informed the participants on the contacts and the growing cooperation of the Office of Pilgrimage Tours with the Ministry of Tourism, for the development of Pilgrimage Tours and Religious Tourism in general, as well as with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth. A discussion followed and decisions were made.
The meeting was hosted by the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, with the blessings of Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus who received the representatives and associates in his office. During the meeting, the Archbishop informed them about the contacts he had with the Deputy Minister of Tourism, to whom he pointed out the need to implement projects to improve the areas with church monuments.
On the occasion of the Archbishop’s 43rd ordination anniversary as Bishop, representatives and associates wished him all the best. Afterwards, Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus held a luncheon.
