Archdiocese of Australia: Fr. Efthymios Lambropoulos fell asleep in the Lord

The Holy Archdiocese of Australia announced today in deep emotion the passing away of Fr. Efthymios Lambropoulos.

The late priest was born in Stymphalia, Corinthia, in 1926 and emigrated to Australia in 1956.

He was ordained in 1977 by the late Archbishop Stylianos of Australia in the Holy Church of the Holy Apostles in Newcastle. He was then appointed as Priestly Superior of the Holy Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Wagga Wagga, where he served until 1982.

He was then transferred to the Holy Church of the Annunciation, in Mildura, Victoria, where he served for 25 consecutive years until his retirement in 2007. Since then, he has returned to Newcastle, where he had begun his priestly career.

The Funeral Service will be held next Monday, June 6 at 10 am in the Church of the Holy Apostles, Newcastle. Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis will preside over the service on behalf of the Archbishop Makarios of Australia.

His burial will take place in the Sandgate Greek Cemetery, Newcastle.
