Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, as Locum Tenens of the Metropolis of Kition after the resignation of the former Metropolitan of Kition, called the Larnaca clergy in a priestly meeting of the Metropolis of Kition, on Monday, July 1.
In his suggestions regarding the upcoming Metropolitan elections, Chrysostomos emphasized among others the following:
“I want you to give all your best, we must all work brotherly in order to serve our faithful. I do not want us to have any unpleasant fact during the election campaign.
We are free people, democratics, we must let everyone exercise their electoral rights unaffected. As clergy, we also have the power and the Grace through prayer to attain what we desire; that which is the will of God…
I want you to be helpful. I want you to have a lot of gentleness, kindness and love, to accept the whims of our voters too sometimes. It’s up to us, as long as we work in a proper and responsible way…
We need to know what the people want from us; to serve the people, walk along with them and always go along with the will of God.”
