“Fortunately, the Prime Minister had understanding and with the effort and unity of all a solution was found. We will participate in the Ecclesiastical Services with caution and implementation of the imposed measures, so that this difficulty will pass and we hope that we enter a new year that will not have so many problems” said among other things Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece after today’s meeting.
The Archbishop also said that the middle ground was found in the issue of the attendance of the faithful in the Churches and that the issue would have been resolved much earlier if there were no people who tend to magnify some things.
During its Session, the Standing Holy Synod took into account that the Ministry of Education with a kind gesture supported the work of the Church in the remote region of Thrace.
On this occasion, the Standing Holy Synod of the Church of Greece thanked the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs, Niki Kerameus and expressed its gratitude to the four Archpriests of Thrace for their remarkable pastoral contribution to the peaceful coexistence of Christians and Muslims in this prosperous region.
The Standing Holy Synod unequivocally condemned as well Turkey’s violation of international treaties and human rights in Varosia, Cyprus, the ongoing religious persecution and murderous attacks on Armenian Christians in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the vandalism caused at the Holocaust Memorial and in the precinct of the building of the Israeli Community in the city of Larissa.
