The President of the Hellenic Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, and Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece attended at noon the presentation on the distance learning undergraduate programme “Byzantine Music – The Psaltic Art” at the “Archibishop Ieronymos II” Library of the European University of Cyprus.
The Archibishop delivered an address and spoke in detail about the idea of creating that part of the Library. He stressed, “We wouldn’t have got that far with this project today if it weren’t for the children to whom we want to offer a better life and a home to live in.”
Furthermore, the President of the Hellenic Republic said, “I am here today to honour the Archibishop. The byzantine music is a part of the Byzantine civilisation, which is a very important part of our own culture and of European culture in general.” He then congratulated the Archbishop and all the participants on the initiative.
The Chief Executive Officer of the European University of Cyprus, Christoforos Chatzikyprianou, and the Rector, Kostas Gouliamos, who presented the programme, also delivered an address.
