For the sixth consecutive year, the annual fundraising dinner of the Australian Archdiocese for the enhancement of Africa’s mission and the financial support of children in the African continent, was held, with the blessing of the new Archbishop of Australia, Makarios.
The event was attended by Bishop Seraphim of Apollonias, Consul General of Greece, Christos Karras, with his wife Katia Gkikiza, Trade Commissioner of Greece in Australia, and prominent members of the Greek community.
The Bishop congratulated the organizing committee for the initiative and the organization of the event for the 6th year, while conveying the thanks and the blessing of Archbishop Makarios. He also stressed the importance and obligation of all Christians to help those in need.
The event, held on Pentecost Sunday, June 16, in Liverpool was a great success as more than 600 people flocked.
Besides the food there was also Greek traditional music and songs, and the night closed with an auction to raise money. A total of $120,000 was raised.
