On Sunday, December 12, in an atmosphere of great spiritual joy, St. Nicholas Parish in Bunbury, Western Australia honored its Patron Saint.
With the blessing of Bishop Elpidios of Kyanes, Fr. Eleftherios Gerovasilis performed the Divine Liturgy together with the pastor of the Parish of Saint Nicholas Fr. John Sullivan. The Consul of Greece in Perth, Georgia Karasiotou, was also present.
Together with the parishioners of St. Nicholas, more than 200 believers attended the service, who traveled 170 kilometers south of Perth, to attend the festivities in Bunbury. This is an annual tradition held by the faithful of Perth for many years, in order to support the Greek Orthodox community in Bunbury and to honor the miraculous Saint.
Fr. John Sullivan conveyed to the faithful the paternal love and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia as well as the festive greetings of Bishop Elpidios of Kyanes, who didn’t attend the festivities this year, as he complied with the obligation to remain in isolation after his return from Sydney.
After the Solemn Divine Liturgy, a seafood meal was served by the United Hellenic Association of Bunbury in the Community Hall next to the church.
The President of the Community, Aristos Papandroulakis, thanked Fr. Eleftherios and Fr. Ioannis, as well as all the faithful who traveled to Bunbury and thus contributed to the great success of the events.
