The firefighters from Moldova and Romania left Northern Evia on August 15 filled with emotion. For fifteen days they had set up their base in the village of Prokopi, in the primary school of the village.
Yesterday, on the day of the feast of the Virgin Mary, they asked the priest of the Holy Temple of Saint John the Russian to bless them before they left. Father Nicholas read wishes and thanked them warmly for their help in the difficult battle with the flames.
“They helped us a lot, they had the latest technology machines, vehicles, they were an example,” says to makthes.gr the head of the pilgrimage of Saint John the Russian, Father Nikolaos.
“Before leaving their countries for Greece, they had asked to be blessed. They did the same now, they asked us to bless them to return safely to their country”, notes Father Nikolaos.
The leaders of the firefighting groups exchanged flags with the representatives of the Greek Fire Brigade as well as gifts, while honorary awards were given.
