An incident with a boat of the Cypriot Port Police and a Turkish patrol boat occurred in the early hours of the morning in the area of Tilliria, Cyprus.
As the Cypriot Police Press Spokesman, Christos Andreou, stated on the public television, the incident occurred around 3:30.
He said, while it was in the area of Pyrgos for a formal patrol to deal with the phenomenon of increased migration flow from the Turkish coast, a boat of the Port Police approached by a Turkish patrol boat.
Christos Andreou noted that a few minutes later the Turkish patrol boat was following the boat and four warning shots were fired on the side of the boat.
When the Port Police boat arrived at a fishing shelter, the Turkish patrol boat left the spot.
According to Christos Andreou, the police are expected to inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the case. As he said, this is the first time such an incident has occurred.
