The inauguration of the historic church of St. Nicholas in Ibrahimia will be performed by Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa on Friday, December 11, 2020.
The great ceremony, in the presence of the Primate of Alexandria, will be co-officiated by the Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus and Bishop of Tamiatheos as well as the Holy Clergy of Alexandria.
It should be noted that the church was built exactly 121 years ago, in 1899, by the great benefactor Constantinos Gogos and his wife Marioga.
The church still exudes the history of the Hellenism of Alexandria during the last century, keeping on its white walls, with the old icons, the anxieties and the prayers of hundreds, thousands of Alexandrians who lit their candle there.
It should also be noted that Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, 16 years ago, was in this church in front of the icon of Saint Nicholas, where he prayed on October 9, 2004, shortly before he was unanimously elected as the new Patriarch of Alexandria.
The procession is expected to start at 8.30 in the morning.
