In the midst of restrictions still in force in the State of Victoria, the Divine Liturgy of St. James was celebrated by the Archepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, Archimandrite Fr. Evmenios, at in the Holy Monastery “Axion Esti” in Northcote, on Friday, October 23.
In his sermon, which was broadcast live on the internet, Father Evmenios spoke to the faithful about the Divine Liturgy of St. James, which is the oldest Eastern Divine Liturgy, and the importance of the Eucharist as the center of the life of the Church.
He also conveyed the wishes and blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, as reported by vema.com.au, and he reassured all the faithful of Victoria that he thought of them throughout the period of this intense ordeal that had afflicted the State.
He pointed out that Archbishop Makarios had been in regular contact with government officials so that the places of worship in Victoria could open as soon as possible.
Finally, Fr. Evmenios, on behalf of the clergy and the flock, expressed his heartfelt wishes to Bishop Iakovos of Militopolis, who lived and served the Church in Victoria for many years.
