A memorandum of the positions of the Church of Greece regarding the proposed provisions for state and church relations and the institution of the family, which is to be revised, will be sent by the Church of Greece to the Hellenic Parliament, as decided by the Permanent Holy Synod after the end of its two-day session.
In particular, in the communiqué issued by the Permanent Holy Synod, Archbishop Ieoronymos of Athens and All Greece accepted the invitation of Patriarch Irinej of Serbia, and will visit him in Belgrade in October, in order to attend the celebrations on the occasion of the eight centuries from the ordination of Saint Savvas as First Archbishop of Serb’s and all Coastal Countries.
The P.H.S. appointed Metropolitan Nicholas of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki, and Metropolitan Chariton of Elassona, as well as Archimandrite Ieronymos Karmas, 2nd Secretary of the Holy Synod, to accompany the Archbishop.
It also appointed Metropolitan Nicholas of Mesogaia and Lavreotiki as a representative of the Church of Greece in Jerusalem at the Ceremony of the Holy Light during the Great Saturday.
Subsequently, accepting the suggestion of the Synodal Committee for the Inter-Orthodox and inter-Christian Relations regarding the re-establishment of the Church of Greece delegation in the Orthodox Church’s Theological Dialogue with the Roman Catholics, the P.H.S. appointed Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Messinia and Archimandrite f. Amphilochios Miltos, a clergyman of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias and Almyros, as representatives of the Church of Greece.
