On Sunday, 12 February 2023, in the suburb of Brunswick in Melbourne, the cutting of the Vasilopita of the Central Pontian Union of Melbourne and Victoria “Pontiaki Estia” took place, by Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote.
Bishop Evmenios conveyed to the members of the association the wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, for a blessed and fruitful year. Bishop Evmenios expressed his joy at the participation of many young people, who enthusiastically serve the tradition and preserve the customs and traditions of their ancestors.
Present at the event, apart from the young men and women of the dance groups of the “Pontiaki Estia”, was the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Emmanuel Kakavelakis, and the President of the Pontian Union, Konstantinos Tsaprailidis.
In the short greeting addressed by the Consul General, Kakavelakis, he expressed his joy at the dynamism shown by the associations of the Greek Community, like the “Pontiaki Estia” and wished the members of the association to continue to progress in the Antipodes.
