On Friday, November 18, Archbishop Makarios of Australia visited the Federal Minister of Immigration, Citizenship, and Multicultural Affairs of Australia, Andrew Giles.
During the meeting, which was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, in the presence of his associates, issues of mutual interest were discussed, with emphasis on issues related to the Greek Diaspora, and the strengthening of cooperation between the two sides was agreed upon.
The Archbishop was accompanied by the Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese, Christoforos Krikelis, Archimandrite Stefanos, and Archdeacon Athinagoras.
At the end of the meeting, Archbishop Makarios wished the Minister all the best for success in his work, while offering him as a gift an icon of the Theotokos and inviting him to visit the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia in Sydney. The Minister was pleased to accept and so the next meeting of the two men is expected.
