Christos Tsoraklidis, Proistamenos of the Parish of Saint Savvas the New in Kalymnos, located in the Darwin area of the Northern Territory of Australia, together with Georgios Alexopoulos and Ioannis Mousellis, who serve as Vice Presidents of the Administrative Council of the newly established Parish, visited Archbishop Makarios of Australia on Wednesday, March 20, at the headquarters of the Holy Archdiocese in Sydney. During the visit, Mr. Mousellis was accompanied by his wife, Zacharoula, and Mr. Alexopoulos was accompanied by his wife, Maria, and their son, Nikolaos.
Following their warm welcome by Archbishop Makarios, a detailed and constructive discussion took place regarding the construction project of the new Holy Church dedicated to Saint Savvas the New in the Palmerston area. It is noteworthy that for the time being the Divine Services for the members of the newly established parish are performed at the Catholic College of Mackillop in the suburb of Johnston.
The members of the delegation from Darwin informed the Archbishop in detail about the actions that have been taken and the plans that will be implemented for the completion of this noble project. In addition, they expressed their gratitude to the Archbishop for his unwavering paternal interest in the new parish as well as in the Greek Orthodox flock of the Northern Territory of Australia.
For his part, the Archbishop, after thanking the Proistamenos and the administration of the Parish of Saint Savvas in Kalymnos for their dedicated service so far, gave appropriate guidance and direction for the completion of the next stages of the project, praying that God will strengthen and guide them in their steps and decisions.
