The Holy Metropolis of Kitros, Katerini, and Platamon recently organized a 7-day pilgrimage and educational journey for young participants to the Orthodox Church of Poland, held during the Holy Week from May 7th to May 13th.
Under the guidance of Metropolitan Georgios, the pilgrimage saw the participation of 2 clergymen and 44 young individuals, including catechists, camp leaders, priests, and readers. The group was warmly welcomed by Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland, alongside other hierarchs and clergy members, as well as the local Orthodox community.
The journey included a captivating tour of Warsaw, during which the group visited significant landmarks such as the newly constructed Church of the Wisdom of God, along with other revered temples and institutions. The journey continued with visits to the Holy Archdiocese of Bialystok and Gdansk, led by Metropolitan Iakovos, offering enriching experiences and heartfelt hospitality.
Throughout their pilgrimage, participants had the privilege of venerating at holy sites including the Grabarka Holy Mount, home to the relic of the Holy Child Martyr Gabriel, as well as various monasteries housing revered relics and miraculous icons. Notably, on the Second Sunday of Easter, they attended the Divine Liturgy at the Monastery of Suprasl, where Bishop and Abbot Andreas warmly greeted the ecclesiastical mission from Greece.
In addition to their spiritual engagements, the young pilgrims had the opportunity to engage in joint activities with Polish youth, fostering cultural exchange and collaboration under the European Erasmus+ Programme. These interactions spanned intellectual forums and outdoor activities, allowing participants to immerse themselves in Poland’s natural beauty and cultural richness.
Finally, this pilgrimage provided invaluable worship and pastoral experiences, nurturing the spiritual growth of the young participants and equipping them with insights to enhance their ministry within the Church.
