The visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the fenced area of Varosha was concluded. After the visit, the Turkish Cypriot leader, Ersin Tatar, who accompanied the Turkish president, said: “It is a pity that all this beauty has been kept away from the public until today. This place is waiting for the day to meet its real owners. As a motherland, we will always be by the side of the ‘pseudo-state’,” said the Turkish president after an illegal visit to Varosha.
It is reminded that Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the fenced area of Varosha under heavy rain on Sunday afternoon (15/11). The Turkish president was accompanied by Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar and Turkish officials.
Despite the extensive preparations, all those present had to stay at the shelters of Kennedy Avenue, as a storm broke out with strong winds during the arrival of the Turkish president.
Erdogan told reporters who were waiting for him, “We should first admire the view and then we can talk.” Earlier, a ceremony took place at the Fazil Kucuk monument and then a parade was held with Turkish F-16 forming the crescent.
During his speech, Recep Tayyip Edogan said that the step taken in Varosha was not to create new problems but to correct the old ones.
Regarding hydrocarbons, he stated that “as a guarantor country we can not tolerate other diplomatic games.”
