A Ukrainian metropolitan, who – according to information – is in Northern Greece for a pilgrimage, was robbed by a 40-year-old fugitive in Thessaloniki.
According to the Police, the attacker approached the 44-year-old metropolitan from the city of Ternopil while he was getting on a bus (with Ukrainian license plates) and removed a holy cross from his belongings. The 44-year-old pushed the Ukrainian metropolitan away.
Following police searches, the 40-year-old was arrested by the DI.AS police team and the cross was given back to its owner.
As it became known, the arrested person is of Algerian origin, while a knife was found in his possession.
Furthermore, police investigation revealed that he was sentenced to a total of 8 years imprisonment before.
The 40-year-old Algerian was taken to the prosecutor.
