Three new assistant bishops to the Archdiocese of Australia were elected by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, which met today, elected the Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Australia, Archimandrite Evagrios Koutouzis, as Bishop with the title Bishop of Meloi. The newly-elected Bishop of Meloi, Evagrios, will be Assistant Bishop of the Archdiocese of Australia
Moreover, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate promoted two more clergymen from the Archdiocese of Australia. The Archieratic Commissioner for Perth, Archimandrite Elpidios Karalis, was elected Bishop of Kyanea, while the Archieratic Commissioner for Adelaide, Archimandrite Silouan Fotineas, was elected Bishop of Sinope.
