Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia visited the Church of Saint Sava in New York on January 25, 2023.
On that occasion, Patriarch Porfirije got acquainted with the work on the restoration of the church, which was severely damaged in a fire on the Feast of Resurrection in 2016.
The Patriarch was accompanied by Bishop of Canada kyr Mitrofan, Protopresbyter-Stavrophoros Velibor Džomić, and Protodeacon Dragan Radić.
In a conversation with Protopresbyter-Stavrophoros Živojin Jakovljević, the Dean of the Church; Veljko Dobrilović, President of the Church Board of New York; and Marko Jovanović, member of the Administrative Board; it was concluded that in the past six years, a significant part of the work was done, but that there is still a great deal of work that requires greater efficiency and involvement in the restoration of the church of Saint Sava.
