Today, Serbian Patriarch Porfirije celebrated the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy at the Središče Monastery in the Diocese of Banat. The Patriarch first consecrated the newly erected temple dedicated to the Miraculous Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, the Trinity. He then celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated sanctuary, with the concelebration of Metropolitan Nicanor of Banat and Metropolitan Arsenije of Niš.
Following the reading of the Gospel, the Patriarch addressed the assembled faithful with an archpastoral message, emphasizing that the Orthodox faith is the greatest gift of God to humanity.
“Since the time of St. Sava, we, as a Christian people, have committed ourselves to living, thinking, and acting Orthodox. That is why, from those times until today, wherever we are, we erect Orthodox temples and worship Christ, the Living God, even in the face of persecution.”
Highlighting the guiding principles for every Christian, he underscored that for Orthodox Christians, every law is validated by the Law of Christ:
“The word of Christ, as the word of God and the word of the Church, is our law in the Orthodox faith. We have no other law. Every other law and rule hold value and significance for us only if they are verified by the law of Christ, by the word of Christ, by the will of God.”
The Patriarch’s message resonated deeply with the faithful, reaffirming the centrality of Orthodox Christianity in their lives and its enduring relevance through the ages.
