The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus met today, Tuesday, June 8, 2021, in the second regular session of the year, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.
Initially, he examined the financial accounts of the Thrones and the Stavropegial Monasteries, as well as the KET, for the year 2020 and the budgets for the year 2021.
Afterwards, he was informed by the Archbishop about the program of the inauguration of the new Cathedral of the Apostle Barnabas of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, as well as the other events that will take place on this occasion.
He was also informed by the Archbishop about the meeting that will take place on Saturday, June 12, at the Grand Synod of the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus, which refers to the year of the National Revival (Palingenesia) and the contribution of the Church of Cyprus and the Hellenism of Cyprus in general, to the Nation.
The Holy Synod set the dates for the established Memorials as follows:
a) On July 4, 2021, for the national martyr Archbishop Kyprianos and those who were massacred.
b) On 11 July 2021, for the victims of the treacherous coup of 15 July 1974.
c) On July 18, 2021 for the victims of the barbaric Turkish invasion, and
d) On the 1st of August 2021 for the Archbishop and Ethnarch Makarios.
The Memorial for Ethnarch Makarios will be officiated by the relevant Metropolitans in their provinces, and the Memorial to the Holy Monastery of Kykkos will be officiated by the Metropolitan of Kykkos and Tillyria.
