The Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete wishes healing of the wounds and the disasters, on the occasion of one year after the national tragedy of the catastrophic fire in Mati, Attica, and prays for the rest of the souls of the victims.
In a statement, the Church of Crete recalls and stresses, on the occasion of all the natural disasters, the immediate need of protecting the environment and Creation as a whole.
The only way out, the Church of Crete points out, is the restoration of man’s relationship to the creation of God, despite how much this is going to upset human priorities and interests.
It also draws attention to the protection of the island of Crete from fires, while urging compliance with environmental protection rules and measures, in accordance with the relevant directives of the competent authorities.
