The Church of Crete enters a new era, as the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete unanimously decided to dismiss Archbishop Eirinaios from his duties, due to his deteriorating health condition.
The Synod took into account the affidavits of three doctors – University Professors for the chronic health problems of the Archbishop.
In an announcement issued by the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Church of Crete, the difficulty of such decision was emphasized, highlighting that it was taken with great respect and gratitude to the person, offer and work of Archbishop Eirinaios.
The announcement of the decision was made by the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Crete Prodromos Xenakis.
It is reminded that the proceedings in the Church of Crete for the replacement of Archbishop Eirinaios begin, due to the serious health problems he is facing, with the blessing and consent of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Specifically, the Holy Synod of the Church of Crete, in previous month’s meeting, decided to appoint three doctors who will decide on the health of Archbishop Eirinaios, so that the process of his replacement can proceed.
It should be reminded that Archbishop Eirinaios of Crete was admitted to the hospital on October after health complications.
The Archbishop has been facing serious health problems in recent months.
