The Chief Rabbi of Moscow, Pinchas Goldschmidt, has fled from Russia after being pressured to support the invasion of Ukraine, Avital Cizik-Goldschmidt, a journalist in the United States and the Chief Rabbi’s daughter-in-law, has announced.
“I can finally share”, the journalist wrote on her Twitter account, “that my in-laws have been pressured by the authorities to publicly support the ‘special operation’ in Ukraine and they refused to do so.”
“They fled to Hungary two weeks after the Russian invasion and they are now exiled from the community they loved and built and in which they raised their children for 33 years,” Cizik-Goldschmidt explains.
