Amidst a festive atmosphere, at the Church of Virgin Faneromeni, at the old city of Nicosia, just a breath away from the UN buffer zone (Green Line), there was held the celebration for the Evangelismos tis Theotokou (Annunciation of Virgin Mary), presided by Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.
The Divine Liturgy was also attended by representatives of the State. After the ceremony, there followed a doxology in the event of the 198th Anniversary of the Palingenesis of the Nation.
Also present in the doxology were the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis, ministers and representatives of the Hellenic Armed Forces.
The panegyric of the day was spoken by the Ambassador of Greece to Cyprus, Ilias Fotopoulos, who urged all parties to cooperate so as to find a sustainable solution for the national issue.
