The Byzantine and Christian Museum participates in the “Action Week for the promotion of the Work of the Archaeological Service”, which this year has the special theme “Archeology on Screen”, with the projection of three films.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at 20:00, the film “Researching the Past: Ethiopia, the First Christians” will be screened. Anthropologist Makeda Ketcham guides Philippe Charlier to the holy city of Lalibela with the monolithic churches of the 13th century, an exceptional complex of 11 monuments that is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and remains a pilgrimage attraction.
On the same day, the film “Venice and the Ghost Ship” will be screened. Marco d’Agostino is in charge of the archaeological researches at the Venice Lagoon. On June 20, 2001, he located in a depth of eight meters, a shipwreck that could be a galley, the emblematic ship of the Republic of Venice, at a time when it controlled the trade of luxury goods from the Far East to the West. The history of these unique excavations allows us to live again the three golden centuries of La Serenissima, the Republic of Venice.
Finally, on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at 20:00, “Three Ages” with Buster Keaton will be screened. “The Three Ages” is a modular comedy focused on the unfortunate love life of the man over the centuries.
