“In deep emotion, we sympathize with the pain of the repose of our dear brother Metropolitan Gennadios of Sasima, a prominent Hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Gifted with many spiritual talents, exceptional theological knowledge, and thoughtfulness, he represented the venerable Ecumenical Centre and Orthodoxy in general in important positions of the ecumenical movement, as Vice Moderator of the theological Commission “Faith and Order” of the World Council of Churches and of the Central Committee of the same Council, promoting under difficult circumstances, mutual understanding, Orthodox presence and in general the rapprochement of Christians.
We send our sorrowful condolences to His Beatitude His All Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on the loss of a precious colleague. Remembering the kindness of our beloved brother for the development of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, we performed a Trisagion in the Chapel of the Archdiocese of Tirana, wishing that the Lord, whom he had been praying for with all his heart, may rest his soul. May his memory be eternal!
Tirana, June 1, 2022.”
