The Sunday of Orthodoxy was celebrated in Smyrna with the participation of a small number of believers, observing the restrictive measures and hygienic protocols for the protection against the spread of Covid-19.
Metropolitan Bartholomew of Smyrna presided over the Divine Liturgy and performed a memorial service for the repose of the souls of his predecessors, Hierarchs who resided in the Holy Metropolis of Smyrna, the founders of the Holy Temples of the Metropolis, as well as the great benefactors of the charity institutions of the Metropolis, “and for all those who fought for us.”
In fact, to serve those who could not attend the celebration, the Metropolitan officiated the Divine Liturgy also on Saturday, March 20, while he also performed the First Stasis of Salutations to the Theotokos.
