The Sanctification rite for the beginning of the school year 2021-2022 in Imbros, was performed on Saturday, September 11, by Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros and Tenedos. In the courtyard of the Holy Temple of Agridia, present were the students, teachers, and parents, as well as the Greek Ambassador from Ankara, the Consul General and the Education Coordinator from Constantinople, and representatives of the Imbrian Association of Athens and the Imbrian Union of Macedonia – Thrace.
The Greek schools of Imbros currently have a total of 57 students.
Metropolitan Kyrillos, after conveying the warm patriarchal wishes and blessings, as well as the special love of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, addressed the young students of the schools, to wish the new school year to be different from the previous one and enable lifelong learning, children, teachers and parents to communicate face to face.
Afterwards, the Metropolitan referred to the great achievement of the reopening of the schools of martyrdom, but also of the blessed Imbros, which took place gradually after 2013, when the Greek primary school of the island reopened after half a century. Noting that this was a dream, especially of the Ecumenical Patriarch, which came true, he pointed out that the importance of the reopening of Greek schools is now obvious, as their first graduates already excel in various fields.
He also asked and encouraged the current students to show due diligence in the lessons, so that they excel this year and day by day become wise and good people.
In closing, Metropolitan Kyrillos gave his wishes and blessings to the teachers, the school staff, as well as to the parents of the children, while assuring everyone that for anything they need, the Diocese of Imbros and Tenedos will always be open and at their disposal.
